Welcome to Trinity!

TUM We affirm the vision of a joyous creation-centered, nonviolent economy at the heart of Jesus' teachings and life. We affirm that life is centered and grounded in relationships of diversity and tolerance. We affirm, "all are welcome" as God's beloved in one global family.

We're not perfect and we're not Heaven on earth. We're strugglers who have a vision of the way the world ought to be: we are trying to be a community living towards that world through our lives today.

Lent 2010

WHAT'S HAPPENING DURING LENT?

Ash Wednesday Service
February 17 signaling the beginning of the season of Lent.
The choir will lead us in an extended session of Taize-prayer.
The Pastor will guide us through a Biblical meditation and we will use the four elements of fire, wind, water and earth to mark our initiation into this season of interior spiritual journey.
We have child care in the preschool room.
The service starts promptly at 7pm and will end at 8pm.

The season of Lent is a time for spiritual introspection and taking a fearless moral inventory of one's life. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, a day of remembering our mortality, that we are but dust, and to dust we return, except by the grace of God. Lent then moves through a forty day period of purging. The Church re-members the forty days of wilderness temptation in the life of Jesus, which was, in turn, a re-membering of the forty years of wilderness wandering of the newly freed Egyptian slaves as they moved toward the Promised Land. During this season, followers of Jesus focus on releasing negative habits, addictions, and dependencies. We are challenged to give up pleasures, and privileges in an attempt to experience freedom from habit and need.

SATURDAY SOUP

another Event

SATURDAY SOUP from 11am-1pm for the Ballard community.
SATURDAY SOUP is our relational ministry with neighborhood homeless. We serve from 11am-1pm for the Ballard community. We host a lunch serving delicious and nutritious soup, sandwiches and hospitality to the homeless and lonely in the Ballard community. The success of this mission and response from our congregation and community has been tremendous. We consistently serve between 50 and 150 people and the numbers continue to grow as the word gets out. Volunteers come from the community, our wonderful choir, as well as from other congregations.
For volunteer opportunities contact the church office. The time requirement is minimal and the rewards are great. Donations of paper napkins, small paper cups, books, or magazines can be made in the Saturday Soup Donation box in the parlor. If you would like to make a monetary donation to help with supplies, please contact the church office.
We invite everyone to come on Saturday and have a delicious bowl of soup and a sandwich with us. Great things are happening and we would love to see you there!

TRINITY SAYS NO TO TORTURE

another Event

There is a growing religious movement across the nation lifting up public voices against the use of torture. This movement, National Religious Coalition Against Torture has asked faith communities to hang banners publicly voicing our faith-based opposition. Our banner reads simply, TRINITY UMC SAYS TORTURE IS WRONG. It has the e-address of WWW.NRCAT.ORG which we encourage you to check out. Link to NRCAT statement and articles.

Also got to statement:

                Torture IS a Moral Issue
